Desert Rain is very Australian Desert - Gail you are not far off the mark! There is a poem that goes with it - one line says ' Hidden seeds sigh' - which is part of the feeling of this painting - of the releif of rain in a very dry land (even though at this moment - the rain for a large percentage of Austalia is way too much!)

This painting rather intrigues me; but even the enlarged view is not big enough to really see it properly.

Just from this small image , my initial reaction was - rain, poppet heads, Broken Hill. I am probably nowhere near the mark!
