I think the dot itself is not the problem. Althought it is red it doesn't pop out very much due to moderate saturation. The problem is more in the design of the focal region beneath. It is simply not interesting enough down there. Some tiny light spots could suggest more detail and surpass the interest of the red dot.

Strong movement and transition of colors and values.  Have to ask. What was your thinking with the placemnent of the red dot on the pole?  My eye keeps coming back to it as the main focal point which cause it to compete with the brilliant color pattern in the foreground that sweep from left to right toward the fire.  The dot along with the hard edge on the left of the pole pulls it forward.

Thanks Lawrence! Albeit in this one i did not manage full sunlight to 100%. There were some clouds and only 30% of the time illumination was at 100%. I wanted to paint the 100% but ended up painting some average conditions. At least i made it close...
