Hi Akinchan, I just visit your website and I love your "Making of Buwa and Babu". You did an amazing job and it's very helpful, I still struggle with colours too. But your tutorial will help me a lot with my next drawing. I've made a few "Making of..." drawings and paintings also, but not so elaborated as yours. You can visit www.ritamelgert.nl where you find more of my work. The website is Dutch but you will find your way trough it. The name 'Drie Koele Kippen' of my website means Three Cool Chickens, after the chickens in my painting.

Thanks Rita, for your nice comments.Your endeavors are commendable and i loved your charcoal work too. You can visit www.atirupa.com where I have kept all the layers of this sketch if you want to view them. This is prismacolors made in USA and probably the best among the oil based pencil colors. You might not believe this is my fourth color sketch I have ever made after doing charcoal sketches and still there are lot of potholes in it. I am using pencils just to understand colors and their nature. I have not used pigments here. I have tried to make all the pigments with the true colors, change their chroma and value on the way so I merely know the recepie for each areas of the skin tones but I can recreate them. Hope you will find my website helpful with descriptions.

Akinchan, this is beautiful!! Your colourpencil drawings are really beautiful, and very realistic. I like your graphite and charcoal drawings too. I've still got a lot to learn, but I can see what is possible with colourpencils. I still use Karisma colourpencil, but they don't make these pecils anymore. So one of these days I've to look for a new brand.

thanks for the suggestion, it is quite helpful. i thought the cool hues in the large background would balance the warm hues of the face and bring it forward.

This drawing is very realistic and also beautiful.  Well done Akinchan!

In my opinion the background has some beautiful strong colours, but unfortunately the strong geometric shapes  cut the picture in half. Organic shapes might lend itself better to the young woman's gentle nature.

It would be nice if the background and foreground would share the same colours, which would make your drawing more harmonious, rather than separate from one another..

These suggestions may be difficult to achieve in this drawing, but may be useful tips to remember in the future.

I will send you a link to another portrait artist's work in a message, so you can actually see what I mean about the background and foreground being one... I will look for it now and send it to you....:))
