Hello Polly
Your comment just gave me a big grin and I am absolutley flaberghasted! Thank you so much............smiles coming your way..........dor:))
Hi Dor, My art tutor always told me to turn them against wall, only then can you look at your work through new and fresh eye's just as we all are looking at your painting now! I just placed my computer on the coffee table and walked back a few paces, and do you know what happened! I got the wow factor!!!! Your Painting of the rocks just glows with light beautifully. My only suggestion would be to make the background blues a little cooler. A lovely painting I like it very much. Well done you! :) P
Gosh, I seriously wouldn't throw this painting away Dorian. You don't need to start over at all. Just leave it for a couple of days and weeks and then rework it. Even put it away in the cupboard if you have to. :))) It is just the stress of trying to finish it in time. I think it is gorgeous. I would not have said that if I didn't mean it truly. It has a lot of potential to be a masterpiece.
I understand exactly how you feel, I have been there too. It's like you have let yourself down. I did a workshop back in December and never finished my painting either. I was disappointed because I worked so hard to get it finished too. About 3 months afterwards I calmly and finally finished it in my own time.
I also never throw any of my paintings away. Even my worst, worst, muddy, muddy, muddy paintings. I keep them all, so I can learn from them and to remember how I used to paint. :))
What you a beginner!!! I honestly thought you were beyond that. Your paintings are truly beautiful...!!!
Thank you Patricia, your words are very encouraging to this beginner.
This is going in the garbage, along with the other four. Of course I will eventually gesso over them to use again. This one is pure wet mud. What I should do is begin another applying what I have only begun to learn.
Finally just yesterday a light bulb went off in my head, and I thought..........oh now I can see what value is and does.
I love this. You are very sure about your colour choices and have limited them also, to make a WOW statement!!
I like your range of warm colours in the foreground, and your cool background colours. Personally I wouldn't do too much work in the background as it may be a distraction to the focal point.
Also may I encourage you to still work on your painting and not leave it as it. You mentioned you would still like to work on it, please yourself too. I would like to see what you can really do... :))
Thank you Diane
Oh I want to see your fish! Yes I do........I think I need more of them around me...........: ))
I have watched his video over and over taking notes.........etc.........and finally I understand.............I think I am retarded.......: ))
Sure got the hang of the purpose of this workshop Dorian. More time you could put a little form into the background with your lovely brushstrokes. Great light! Very very good. I got discusted with my effort so soon after holiday and are back painting fish. More fun:)
