11x14 Oil on panel
Added more paint on the shadows. I feel it still needs work. I couldn't get the dramatic light that I wanted. I wonder if it's because I didn't start out with Acrylics in the beginning. You can see the other one I painted in the beginning. Its much lighter. Go to my page photos. Great Workshop.

Yes. Montalvo, you are right. Would you please go to click"photos" then type"workshop43" then, looking for the paintings by Russell Kells and Diana King may be somebody else to get an idea. Also, Richard's final version is the best example of harmonized colour. Best to you, Montalvo.
Wow Ningning....I want to Thank You for stopping and sharing what you see and what I can improve on. I really welcome others insights. I have a question? When you say "Cooler" do you mean more of a blue, soft purple???
Montalvo, I like your drawings, especially the water, they are beautiful. Those grass on sand done are very detailed and nice, I did not do it well. I blame it on my brushes. Lol. I love the subtle colour tempreture change in the shadows , they are beautiful. the pass is very finely painted and very beautiful and realistic. And that is your creation. Congratulations, Montalvo. One observation of the colour. Those cliffs of the hills can be cooler. now they are broun orange, hot. Or keep them hot and make the whole surrandings , I mean , everything in the painting has some yellow, orange, red influnce. mix more of them into your cool calour, so that the whole scence can be more harmonized in terms of colour. Some times degree is very important. I like this work a lot. There are many good stuffs for me to learn. See you, Montalvo, the coming one. Good luck for both of us.
Oooh... sigh..if you could of been in my head..It went something like this" Should I use more yellow, should I blend yellow and white?should I darken more...no,no, no to dark. Maybe I should wipe it off. Gee I better stop I m messing it up. Should I start over?. Whats wrong with the pictures I took. It's to blue." The frustations of a novice.
Hi Montalvo, I don't think starting with the acrylics made a difference. You either didn't start out with dark enough values to begin with, or you wiped them out with your final lights (like I did in my foreground). We'll learn a lot here!.
