Hi Paolo, Marta, Annemieke, Denise and Marina. Sorry to be so late to respond to your kind words but I just returned from a short holiday were I was without an internet connection. I'm glad you all find my painting interesting. I'm learning that the emotional response to one of my paintings is more gratifying than staying true to reality. I have to admit that I had a hard time getting enthused about the subject pictures for this work shop. Don't get me wrong they are beautiful scenes but they didn't really "speak" to me. I ended up choosing this scene because I wanted to try to accentuate the sense of distance from the mountains of the foreground trees. I also wanted to use the spot light effect but I'm afraid I failed in that regard.
Denise thanks for the tips and the photo shop. Your photo shop version is truer to the colours of the actual painting than my photograph is. I find it frustrating trying to produce good photographs of my paintings. Any suggestions in that regard would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all.
Dennis
Lovely!
The yellow light at the top of the trees are a great touch.
I really like this painting also, it has a strong notan and I like the colors and the way you have used little highlights of saturated light spots.
I have made a few minor changes to it in Photoshop, hope you don't mind. It was easier then trying to explain it and I thought there was just small minor adjustments in the mountains would add to this painting. I'm not sure it really works after all as an improvement, but here it is anyways. And I'm giving you my vote.
