Oils 8x8", "oil out" your canvas "where you plan on painting that day" by rubbing a light coat of linseed oil on the canvas and wait 2 minutes before you wipe it off with cheese cloth. Add your final brighest highlights of pure white and glazes for the depth in the shadows. Sign the painting, your finished.

I am really enjoying this type of painting. I will post my Indian Pots painting when it is finished with the WIP for it too. Any subject will work for this. Let me inow if you are interested in this technique. Ro

It is really good to be working on 2 paintings at a time when doing this technique so that you have something to work on while you are waiting for it to dry. This can also be done in acrylics. The principal behind this technique is that light bounced around in all the layers of paint giving it a very 3D effect.

PATRICK.  Your typing is fine......you are an artist!  he he Thank you. Apparently acrylics are just like oils....some are transparent.  This process is only 4 steps as I demonstrated in my post.  Acrylics just dry fast.  The whole idea is to work your way through developing the layers so that the light will bounce around giving you debth in the final painting that a 1 layer painting just can not achieve. I have a wonderful friend who shares ALL with you..... http://www.easy-oil-painting-techniques.org/.... this is for oil painting, but in the group I am in learning how to do this.  A friend is using acrylics.  On Delmus's site look on the left for Free Lessons which will walk you through preparing your canvas to each layer in the painting.  Look at my work..........it has IMPROVED.   Soon I will complete a painting of Indian Pots and will post the steps.  It, along with the magnolia, is some of the best art I have ever produced.  If you enjoy this kind of art!

LYNDON.  Thank you.  I figure I can paint 4 so so good paintings in the same amount of time it takes me to do one GREAT, BETTER THAN I HAVE EVER DONE one.  I kept that in mind as I worked my way through the 4 easy steps.  I was working on my Indian Pot painting (soon to be finished and I will post) and needed another one to allow for drying times between the coats/layers.  As long as you are painting all the time......who cares how long it takes (due to drying times)......if it is the best thing you have ever done in your life!.........I love this......it is easy.......the steps just walk you through it.......look what comes out.  I have decided to push myself.  I will never again paint anyting that I already know how to paint.  If it does not scare the pants off of me (joke of course) I toss it over my shoulder and find something HARDER!  I spent an entire evening looking at Cowboy Artist of America.  Well, their "stuff" did not look like anything you could paint in 3 days......or much longer.  I decied right then an there..........get serious.......paint something so hard it takes a month!  Well the Indian pot painting is on day 27.  Not finished just yet.........I will post all the steps.  See what you think.  OH BY THE WAY.  This was my first Flemish technique painting (the pot painting) and I did not know what I was doing.  I think the next one will be much faster!   If you are interested to know more, let me know.  smile  Ro

Roena, what a fantastic painting!!!

How did you have the patience to do this?

The end result was obviously worth it though and you certainly do have a 3D effect in the petals, definitely 5 * material.
