Forest Interior 8x10

I found a short trail into the forest and it was hard deciding what to do here and it was so very green everywhere. Reflected greens on everything and my canvas I don't think I got the values deep enough. Oil on Linen Board 8"X10"

I didn't find this easy to paint because of the reflected green everywhere and on my palette and canvas and paint. I found all those greens very subtle to create and not make one big green mess. I could work some brighter light spots into the scene and I think that would help but I will try a larger piece of this at some time. Not sure where these next few workshops are leading to but I'm excited to try and produce some larger piece soon even if it's not the direction Richard is taking us in. This will be one I'd love to do a nice large studios piece with and maybe add an owl or some other critter.

Comment by Vicki Leigh Ingham on May 27, 2012 at 7:55: Personally, I really like this--I think it's amazing how you pulled just enough details and shapes out of all that green to create a picture that really feels like I'm in the depths of the forest with a little sunlight filtering through. Plus I love the loose brushiness of it. I tend to shy away from tackling something like this with so many greens. Bravo!
