Hi, Leigh - I hear you. I sign on the back - I don't like signatures in the 'scene'. For me, I white them out - I knw the previous painting can give a good color base for a new one but I don't like it (pyscologcal, I guess!), the texture can help but can be a problem if there's just build-up in one area! I bet it's nice to see them at your son's place!
Hi, Candi, I put them out just to see them basically - they're normally piled in the garage (the photos shows about a quarter of them) + I had friends over and they said they would like one - so I let them choose one. (I notice that people who aren't into painitng don't really care - it an activity is not one of your interests, you don't bother that much about it (like patchworks that take tens of hours, etc).
Before, I was very reluctant to gesso over the ones I sort of felt were a bit of an achievement - but now I'm just gessoing a fair amount of them - can't keep all that - taint worth it unless somebody would want if for their home!
Wow Jon, first thing I noticed are your beautiful vibrant colors! Really liking your watermelon and oranges! Why do you have them all out in your yard? That's what I have to do, buy some gesso, or thinking anout having a garage sale and throwing them in there. Running out of room!
Hmm, except there's no unifying theme or style - they are more like learning exercises - those ones of the fruit (the twelve seasons) were one of the pleasant surprises. Normally, I white out (gesso over) most of my 'old' ones to re-cycle the support - there's normally 3 'hidden' paintings per board/canvas!!!
Wow! Impressive! You can hold a solo exhibition. I love your fruit and vegetables still life's ... lots of paintings I haven't seen before! Well done!
Thanks, Cristina :) !
Nice!
