Me too -- getting sick of canvas and such... I like smooth surfaces much more.

By the way, I was a "nappy roller" when I was younger...

Lovely work!  Nice backlit effect!

I tried linen, and was disappointed-almost exactly the same as canvas, but much more expensive.  What I have found delightful is hardboard panels gessoed with a little nappy roller for just a hint of texture. I like the very thick gesso from Gamblin. 2 coats does the job.

Very nice ...  I love this one.... i.e. the green/yellow color brush strokes which depict the sun hitting the ground and the way you modeled the tail.  However, I find the band of colors right above the horse disturbing.  It seems to stop the eye.  But, overall a great painting.
