oil on canvas, 50 x 65 cm. Feel that I'm getting caught between being 'tight' and being 'loose'. I guess the subject attacted me by the monochromic + light effect...

Lovely painting Jon.  I am also between tight and loose.  I recon it is just keep practicing!  Hopefully we get there soon.  Monochromatic paintings make you really think about value.  I think it is a good exercise.  Then you don't need to worry about colour as well.

Thanks Xiao and Jan - it's nice to have old friends drop by :)  I really like monochrome/limited color paintings - must do some more

HI, Linda and Laura - well, I was pleased to find something I wanted to try;

Hi, Stephen - yeah it does look like moonlight or something - it's supposed to be a gray afternoon with a sort of backlit glare - thanks for commenting!

It is very painterly, Jon! Perfect for both Tight & Loose. Love the way you painted background.
