Does anyone of you sell your paintings online? My closest art gallery is about 1000 km away from me. If I want to sell my art online, I will have to mail the paintings to the potential buyers, which probably will be overseas buyers. How do I send paintings? I cannot frame them here as here is no framer and it will also make postage very expensive because the package will be much bigger and heavier. I paint on stretch canvas, on hardboard or sometimes on canvas sheets. If you send it like that, it would not look very professional. Can you recommend something? How do you send your paintings?

Hi, Aurelia,
There are videos on YouTube on how to package art for shipping.

One thing that I want to mention is to be very careful about who you send things too. One scam that I heard about from some other artists is when someone orders a painting and sends you a money order. But they send it in the wrong amount. ..more than the asking price. They then say, "Just send me a check back for the difference." So the artist sends a check back for the overrage. But when they go to cash the money order, it is fake. And they have lost their money AND the art.
Be sure you have the actual cash in your pocket, before you ship anywhere.

Another thing that you might try is Fine Art America. You upload a GOOD photo of your art and they sell prints to people. They ship and collect the money and then send you a check monthly for your portion. You can set your own price and getting a page on their website is Free. You might want to spend some time and read their website for more information.

Good question Aurelia, I haven't sold alot of paintings but the small ones I wrap in bubble wrap and put in a FedX box. This works well for panels in the US.For a larger framed oil on canvas I bought some shipping boxes that were almost the correct size and bubble wrapped with foam corners. I added the cost of shipping and materials to the price of painting. I won one of Richards paintings, he rolled the small canvas and shipped it in a mailing tube. It will be interesting to see what people do that sell paintings often.
