Thank you for your comment Sharon.  At Michael's suggestion I darkened the darks and have re-posted this painting and called it "Italian Street Scene (Revised)".  I hope you will think it's an improvement!

Hi Michael - I've just posted my revised version and hope it's an improvement.  Taking a photo that shows the true colours is a problem - it's 29 degrees C here today so a lot of sunlight. I find if I take the photo in the shade it comes out too blue and in direct sunlight I lose some detail.  Anyway I'll be interested to hear your comments!

Hi Michael.  I really thought I'd made a mess with trying to "fix" this painting but with your encouragement to post it again I decided to do some more work on it (after it was dry!!!).  It's now 9pm so too late to take another photo but I really think I can say I'm happy with the result.  If I re-post do I delete the above photo and put the new one up in its place - otherwise I'll lose all the lovely comments below.  Look forward to hearing how I should handle a re-post.

You have so much going for this painting correctly!  Your building, your people are super good.  I like it a lot, the way it is.  Smiles to you :-)
