This is my first painting that isn't copied or instructed. When I sketched the idea, I didn't think I could paint. I began learning to paint so that I could paint this picture (on the way discovering a love of painting and having lots more ideas to paint - which I still don't have the skill for!). December 2013 I decided I was ready to give it a go and bought my first stretched canvas as a Christmas present to myself. It has taken about 10 weeks to complete. This painting depicts features from certain passages in the Holy Bible, such as Psalm 91:2, "I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress." The related passages are hidden in the bark of the tree on the right.
