The photo your daughter sent is very beautiful and you interpretation is nice too.   The only color in the water that I could see (Ningning's suggestion) was a slight orange/pink on the left but none on the right.  The shore line on the right that you painted is so much the same as the shapes in the clouds it appears to be the reflection of the clouds but the wrong color - not being similar to the clouds.  I think the point of the land sticking out in the water has a angle that is pointing rather down, when the angle on the photo that point is straight across like the horizon would be if you could see it on the other side of the hills. Nice work.

Very interesting interpretation of the sunset.  This painting has a special charm. I do not know what it is.  I just feel that it is very peaceful and beautiful. The water should have some reflection of the cloud? Or maybe not , as the hill stopped the red cloud . I love the colours you applied for the whole scene. Very nice painting, Montalvo!

my favorite part of this is actually the way you have done the hill behind the lake - lovely color variation.  Suggestion for improvement: a softening of the orange strokes in the sky.
