Beautiful light and texture of the foreground. The hay bale with exaggerated lights and darks is nicely done with purplie shadows. This is the type of path and shadowing that would help the first painting but not the orange brown color. The little house seems to float in the air, you could add a hint of mid value to give it a place to rest. Great portrait of a Haybale

Wow - this is wonderful, Laura - fabulous light on the haystack!  A tiny tiny thing to maybe change just a little is the triangular shaped tree in the background.
