This is #6 of my Daily Painting Challenge of 365 paintings in 365 days for 2014!

When I was a little girl; very little; I was 4, I would sit on the bed with my great-grandmother and she would tell me stories and make me things out of paper, tissue paper, and gum wrappers. I did not understand she was dying and it was a hospital bed. I loved being with her and spent as much time with her as they would let me. One of my favorite games we played was "magic birds". She would fold paper into the most beautiful birds and throw them into the air, and to this day I still remember them as if she could make them really fly. I still have dreams about it. She was amazing. I folded this little origami bird today and thought of her....mine not nearly as beautiful as her birds....I threw it into the air and watched it fall to the floor...and closed my eyes and watched it fly.

Dear Pandalana, you are such a good story-teller both with words and with paint!

Now I'm getting teary-eyed thinking of my grandma, too!
