oil on canvas, 60 or 70 cm wide. Hmm, I don't think I managed to change anything...

I just noticed one more little thing Jon, the posts behind the figures look like they are growing out of her head. Do you need them ?

OK, good points - I'd also like it to be softer and looser - I'll see what I can do... thanks a lot, Ann!!!

The snow thru the tree is distracting, do you need it ? The house is great with nice value shifts and harmonious color. I am impressed with the tree in front of the corner. The light and dark branches with the grey work well for winter trees. Figures are also very well done and believable. The path dividing the painting horizontally is barrier into your painting it is too straight and the rocks seem busy with colones. Think about having some of that corn stubble cover part of the path where it is straight and merge soften the rocks. These changes would help the viewer go into the painting where the beautifully painted things are. Over all very well done, your talent shines

How lovely Jon! I just learned Maize is corn. So, this is your home and you really have hens?

Laura, the people (my wife and daughter) are gleaning leftover corn on the cob (maize) - to feed the hens back at the house!

Thanks, Pauline

Laura - yeah it's a band of snow on the far mountain - I just couldn't seem to get the far mountain - and I had even more probs with the trees - frustrating that...

I like this painting Jon,  your wintery trees are painted well, i love the cool winter sun lighting up the house, the people are very convincing too with there short shadows.  Overall a lovely piece of art.
