Micanopy Antiques by Sharon Repple 11" x 14" ws oil
This is my first attempt in almost 40 years to paint with oils. When I painted in oils before my oldest son was about 5 and I let him paint while I was painting. After awhile I looked over and his face was covered with black oil paint, cute but a nightmare to clean off his face.
This scene is from Micanopy, Fl
Love to hear your comments. I thought I would give them a try since so many of you including Richard paint with oils. Not sure yet if I want to give up my quick drying acrylics. So much to learn.

Hi Sharon

I have used  Artisan and do not have a problem with it because I use walnut oil to thin. I use water  and dish soap for clean up.    At the moment I am using  Cobra because I see Richard using it! : ))

Thanks Dorian, what water soluble brand do you use? Some web reviews on Artisan mentioned the same problem I had with the paints being sticky and stiff.

Thanks Manneherrin, I seem to gravitate to brighter colors but actually most of these colors started out as combination of the three primaries and then blended to warmer or cooler colors.  Very rarely do I use a color straight from the tube.  I'm learning to blend the oils.  I'm using water soluble oils but I've noticed that they don't look as creamy as the ones that Richard is using.  Mine seem stiff.  Probably need a better brand but not sure  if I want to make the investment yet.

I am such a huge fan of primary colors but I  dont have the courage to paint with them. I really love this composition and the dappled sunlight coming through the trees and vines. Bright and calming at the same time.
