Dear All,

It is not surprise to think about Shangri-La when you have first seen my painting Moeciu Landscape. That was the reason I completed the title of this painting with the location of Moeciu; Romanian Carpathians. I wish i was visiting Shangri La a place described in the Lost Horizon of the British novelist James Hilton   - a mystique place which could not possibly exist here on Earth but only found in heaven. And I wish I could live like the people there permanently happy, immortal, living years beyond the normal lifespan and only very slowly aging in appearance.

On contrary, Romania is characterized by four seasons and the temperature difference between summer and winter goes up to 60 degrees Celsius. So heaven is only in few months May – October. As a Chinese saying goes, "The earliest sunrise is seen in Shangri-La”we ca  could say that this is valid for Romania versus Europe. George

AWESOME!!!. I just watched the video and I just can't find the words to describe how I feel, Patricia said it all and better than she I couldn't give words to my feelings.

It's just stunning, this is so beautiful. I've seen here in the Netherlands some travel video's, and video's about different railways, and every time I was blown away by the beauty of your country. Indeed Paradise on Earth.

George,

I am totally in AWE!!  I have learned such a lot just watching this absolutely marvelous video on Romania.  I honestly had no idea up till now that such a paradise existed!!!  The funny thing is that I said that your painting reminded me of Shangrila, when in fact I had no idea how true it really was.   Now, I truly appreciate your painting even more.

My dream is to sit amongst the wild daffodils, and paint this pristine wilderness to my heart's content.   For lunch I want to dig into my backpack and take out fresh homemade cheese and freshly-baked bread.  Of course, you can only eat this in Carpathia to truly get the full wild flavour!!  No other place will do!!

Neatinsa pustie la superlativ!!!

Carpathians should be kept in their brilliance and wild nature as they remained untouched The place is one of the last nature paradise in the world. Royal Highness Prince Charles lives now in Transilvania -Romania and he is saying that this is the last place in Europe where you can find unspoiled nature

I am so in love with Romania!!!

My first impression of this gorgeous country was that it is very spiritual.  Everything seemed so orderly and clean and the people were hardworking and took pride in what they did!!   Definitely my kind of place.

You are so right about the exquisite landscapes.  It is simply beautiful...!!  I will definitely need to come and see this gorgeous country in person some day!!

Multumesc frumos!!!

Hi George, I paint mainly in acrylics, but started a while ago with soluble oils, due to allergy. I used traditionel oils, but felt sick everytime, so stopped using them. The last months I've made some watercolourpaintings too, and I love to draw with grphite and colourpencils.

Because I found one of my paintings on the internet with an other name under it, I had to make some changes here. At my website my paintings and drawings are watermarked, but here I didn't want to put my name in the middle of my paintings, unfortunately with this result.

Now you are on my friendslist, you can find some of my paintings on my page here. I feel sorry for the actions I had to take, but discovering that someone is stealing paintings and says that they have painted it, hurts.

Thanks Rita for your enthusiasm and appreciations. Lighting is striking when it comes the time of long shadows. This was the concept and the mood I planned with this painting. The reference photo is just about that. Except, I added some "poems" from other photos. The think is one can't capture in one piece all the beauty. More works like this will follow thought. Have a good day, George

P.S Do you paint? May I see few of your works?
