Your welcome. One of the most exciting things that I was seeing after I got my composition book and got started trying to learn it, was that I could find great painters like Monet as examples for the composition types. It was so exciting when I started to understand WHY they put something where they did. It is a complex subject, but well worth learning. Good composition and the viewer will stand and look at it a long time by the artist leading the eye around in the picture. Bad composition and the artist leads the eye out of the painting. The viewer looks and quickly just walks away. At least that is the understanding I have. (I read that someplace.) There is another big deal (it appears) about triangles. See how many triangles you can find in Monet's paintings. Look even in the backgrounds as that is part of the divisions of paintings. Now you will start to really notice triangles. LOL Ro

Ro, thanks for that info and the attached Monet - isn't it wonderful!

Here is a Monet. Steelyard composition is a large object being balanced by a smaller one. My Forest Light is a steelyard too. Ro

Ro, thank you for your kind comments about my paintings. I am honoured that you like them. It really helps to get some feedback. I was not sure what a 'steelyard composition' is though! I had a look at your photos and they are great, I especially love the canyon one and 'Forest Light'..

Outstand steelyard composition with the moon balancing the girl. Great colors. This is one of my favorites of yours. Ro
