It was an old small black and white photo and yellowed which was unclear. Have occasionally need a magnifying glass for the drawing.

Wow Henk, This is perfection. Love it:-))
Beautiful portrait, Hank, full of emotions and traces of life on his face. :-)) Anna
Henk,
In my opinion, nothing needs to be changed. The values and highlights are perfect. It is beautiful just like you have drawn it... :))
Thanks Rita, Patricia, Deb, Diane and Jan for your comments and likes. But now that I have seeing this drawing on my computer screen and I can zoomed out so as if I looked the drawing from a distance, I have quite critical aspect on this. I come to the conclusion that the highlights on her blouse are way too bright. It diverts attention away from what matters, her face! I think the background can a little bit darker so her face will emerges more. Her gray hair may appear to be a little softer I think. Thanks guys :)
you have captured a really wise woman with great pride in her face and many a story to tell. Love it you are very talented.
Really like this. You are good, sir!
The detail is Magnificent!!! Well done Henk... I love it!!
WOW!! This is awesome Henk. You've put so much detail in her face and hair, I really like this. I love graphite drawings, made a few portraits myself, but never tried charcoal. Your portrait looks fantastic and your Great Grandmother was a very beautiful lady. I never thought this was possible with charcoal, it's so realistic, almost a photo. I'm sure your Great Grandmother would be very pleased and proud of you with this beautiful portrait.
