The expense was not bad as it was only slip/marina fees since the boat was paid for. We figured it was an inexpensive condo on the water! I am 65 and Don is 73. We were to old! Its hard climbing around, hanking on sails, removing sails, raising anchors (by hand), etc. Made me tired thinking about it! LOL Yes, never to old to paint.

Hi, I am only crew, in fact probably just ballast. I just love to be out on the water, but do not really know how to sail. You must miss it. It is a shame to give up something because you feel too old - maybe it is just the expense and effort involved in owning your own boat. The next best thing is to go out with others on their boats!!
Isn't it great that we are never too old to paint!! Anne

Sailing.......really. We had a 25 foot Catalina Sailboat for 19 years. We raced, camped out for weeks vacations, and just had a lot of fun. I guess my sayings just pop into my head so that I dont go painting out side. Dont really have them written down. Do you sail or do you only crew? I was the sailor in the family as Don's heart was into flying. I must admit I am very competitive when we raced!!!! LOL We sold the boat just this last year as we thought we were getting to old.....sob. Ro

Ro,, you are right, I just have to do it. Have ordered Richard's Painting Adventures DVD which might give me inspiration. What a lovely thing to say about my photo - I was out sailing on Moreton Bay in Queensland and must have been feeling carefree and relaxed! Send me the sayings! Good luck with your plein air ventures. Anne

Anne, I can loan you an entire list of "excuses" I have been giving myself, and so far they must be working as I still have not made it out to paint outside in years. LOL I'm on my way over to give you a swift kick in the behind.......then I will turn around and you can give me one too. LOL We just arrived on the Texas coast (Gulf of Mexico) today and took a quick drive in near dark conditions. Ohhhhhh so pretty. I have Richard's Master Class where he does a beach scene. We will see how it goes. I have painted before sitting just ouside the motor home. How about in your back yard of your house? Would that work? BTW, I just love the photo you have with your hand on your chin. I have thought up so many different "sayings" to go with it. I love it! Ro

Hi Ro, I did not do these plein air but I was trying to get an impressionist effect. They are really only underpaintings but I thought I might ruin them if I kept painting!
I would like to do some plein air painting but am a bit daunted by the thought. Anne
