This is a painting Ive done of a local bed and breakfast. It looks too kitchy and sweet. Buildings and figures are my weakest area because it brings out my ocd. Any suggestion that you might have to help me bring this into a professional looking painting will be greatly appreciated. Thank you guys and gals :)

I want it to look painterly and loose. I have no idea how to make a building look loose.
Some nice things here Manneherrin. I think your lead in is a little too obvious, try softening the colors with irregular shapes. The general form of your building looks good just remember that shape and form get less sharp and less color as they recede. You may have to exaggerate this to make your building more convincing. The bright sky competes with the building for attention so tone it down and the tree peeking from behind would be better if an irregular shape instead of half circle. MJS can give you great advice and I would also recommend that you message Stuart Gourley for advice. He has a special talent for street scenes and detail. I look forward to seeing what other advice you get and how you change things
Thank you all for your input. I really appreciate it :)
One piece of advice from one of Richard Schmid's videos--he painted his studio and as a finishing touch he took a palette knife and gave the corner he wanted to be the center of interest an extra crisp edge. He said that he agreed with his wife that that edge made the painting.
Like Candi, I would say it's the clouds. I would soften the clouds, they take away from the excellent building. I like the lines you have converging on the corner of the building!
I'd wait for MJS too, but I think it is your sky that is making it too sweet, I would go darker and push back my trees if it were mine....but I'm a novice! Can't wait to get Michael's input...it will help me too! I'm really liking your second story! I think the windows on the first floor with the awnings may be a bit off. Love the finish of the building!!!
Gosh, difficult, dunno really (sounds like a job for MJS to me ;) ) I just start over when I ain't happy with 'em
