Graphite drawing - approx 8" x 10" size paper - This exercise out of the book, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain teaches neg. spaces. You actually draw the shapes inbetween the chair - not the chair. This drawing was also done in the same method as the "hand holding a banana". The paper was first completely covered in graphite using the side of the pencil led, then rubbed with a paper towel in circles to tone the paper. Start the drawing and lift out the graphite highlights using a kneeded erasure.

Thank you Randy,  This was an exercise out the the Rt Brain book.  We were allowed to but a cross on the page and that was our guide to judge by.  I did not have any confidence to draw, so I was really impressed that doing just what the book told me to do, I could do it.  Ro

Not sure why, but I really like this.  It's obvious you don't use a scale or projector.  The only way to put yourself into a piece of work, is the struggle you live to represent something you like.  Many could learn a lesson here.

Great work here too Ro! Tell Peter, that when he finds that "other" restorer, I wouldn't mind the address too! lol!!

Thank you Melanie, Learning to do neg. drawing was one of the harder things I found to learn to do in the exercises in the book.

LOL Peter, I am glad you liked my attempt at a antique chair. I would really enjoy restoring furniture, but I dont have the knowledge to do it. Antiques in perfect condition are worth tons of money. So, I figure we are worth a lot. he he Ro
