I like the technique Donna. Have never used pastels, but this is soft, and lovely. Nice concept.

Not oil pastels ..just the regular ones. I use Ludwigs a lot because of their versatile and buttery texture.

It is a method I learned from Richard Mckinley but you need to use paper that can take liquid. I use sanded Wallis I hate left over oil paint so you can take it ( without white ) and do a loose block in in oils and paint thinner. I used burnt sienna and UB  for this one. The oils drip into each other creating a cool effect and threading.  Let dry overnight and start in with your pastels. I have a few I did posted here with using this method. Try it.

Wow!  How did you do this?  You put pastel over oil?  Oil pastel or chalk pastel?  It is beautiful.
