Not So Nagy

5"x15", I think, in oil

This is a second attempt. I'm so thankful to Richard for introducing me to Tibor Nagy. It's a style I'd really like to emulate. Unfortunately, I wasn't very successful.

You know, I had this great underpainting going and then I was stuck, I couldn't figure out where to go next and I always have a hard time getting my midtones pushed the way I want. Comment by Denise Maxwell on September 15, 2011 at 16:33: Natasha, I liked your previous attempt with the dramatic sunset and snowy atmospheric results and colors but I prefer how you have done the tree here. It's more realistic and it also has an emotional feel of a cold winter day. Good work with the Nagy affect in both, there is a good attempt towards thick and thin and I like the way there are areas of under painting and canvas still showing. Your colors are subtle and still harmonic,although I would like to see them pushed a bit more in the foreground but maybe that's just where I'm coming from at the moment.
