I couldn't improve on Richard's composition, so I just tried to follow along and paint the same scene.

Sorry for the late reply, I guess you already did your workshop by now, but thought I'd answer anyway.

I have never painted plein air, but I'd imagine I would use them the same as in the studio. Mostly straight from the tube, with a bit of water when I need to thin them down. Hope your workshop went well!

Hey Dan, saw in another post that you used water soluble oils for your painting.  I have a question!   Going to my  very first plein air workshop tomorrow, and bringing water soluble oils.  Do you paint plein air with them, and if so do you use medium, straight from the tube, or with water.  Really confused on this, and thought perhaps I might get some input before I go. Thanks for reading this! :)
