14"X11" Oil on Canvas Board
This is my forth effort. Am I nutty or what? Several years ago I was putting a bird in every painted landscape and even tried with my still life paintings so it just felt right as I really couldn't misappropriate the sheep idea-so cute. I wanted something native but of course I have no knowledge of seasonal birds so I figure a hawk would be a safe bet.

Hi Barbara,
Yes it could be a Red Tail Hawk which I see almost every day near my home but I looked up the New Zealand hawks and this is a feisty guy called a Karearea-Falcon which I believe are bigger then the hawks, isn't the Internet a wonder these days!
Originally the question came up early on about entering more then one painting, this was encouraged as a learning opportunity, I've gone for it as you can see but as there has been so many paintings posted I didn't expect to be picked for a critique so I've been trying my best to do a bit of critiquing myself, that's helped me to see my own efforts. Thanks for liking my painting.
