Sandi, Thank you, Now I know that they are Cassowary father and baby not ostrich. I wondered about ostrich on the beach is rare, they normally live on the dry land or desert. I thought that maybe you took them to the beach to take a walk. Now I know that they are not your pets. And they are agressive cassowary father with his son or daughter to be protected. Very interesting, Thank you again, Sandi.
Hello Ningning, thank you so much for taking the time to critique and good suggestions. This is a Cassowary, a flightless bird native to North Queensland, the male looks after the chicks and can be quite aggressive, lowering its horn and charging as well as using its large claws in a raking manoeuvre. The are common around Mission Beach, hence the name of this piece.
Very interesting theme and very well done. Sandi, one suggestion for your concern, If I were you, I would move that small rock to the side of the head of the ostrich. So the viewer can see her head shape more clearly. By the way, I love that baby ostrich, he is so cute. Your colors are highly harmonized , your composition , value and details are all worked out very well.
