Interesting...still trying to make sense of it all. I understand what your saying..but my brain is trying to decipher  the whole scene. It pushes one to get out of a comfort zone. thanks for sharing Steve..at this time i have to go back and make sense of my own world. I get an alien presense..just what i feel.

The painting is surrealistic. It explores the boundaries of alternative realities in rock formations where we as humans are hard wired to find reality in abstract shapes and meaning in them being there. It is obviously a landscape with recognisable imagery but the meaning is interpreted by the viewer. The stone nun is a reference to the spirituality of nature and the irrelevance of her role in nature. Although she is a strong presence in the picture, she is just part of the landscape as are we all.
