Thank you so much Jeri. I finished this painting and put it in the Bethlehem College art sale but it didn't sell so now I have it home again I'll do some more work on it and include your suggestions!
Hi Fay, I would add a bit of gradiation from the front to the back of the path to bring the viewer down this path visually. It's too flat. Darker to lighter starting at the very foreground. That would really help it with depth. I also agree with the others on their critique as well. Very soft and inviting.
Lovely painting still in progress Fay. Lovely sea colours and waves.
Cristina, Olivia and Ian thank you so much for your comments. Olivia it may be too late to change the central opening but hopefully with the path coming in from the left if I put more sunlight on the right hand side that may alleviate that problem to some degree. Ian, I agree with you that I need to put more highlights and shadows on the grasses. It's one thing to know what to do - another to know how to do it! I will try not to make both sides uniform! Thank you so much for your help! It's still very much a work in progress.
This is lovely Fay as Cristina says so serene. I love the view out through the dunes and the little specks for figures in the distance.
I would prefer the opening to be not so central and the sand and path to be less blended but maybe you have gone for softness to express the serenity of the scene.
Serene, lovely work Fay!!
