25 cm x 25 cm, oil, plein air

Mannheim's Oststadt with its well-preserved art nouveau blocks and villas the preferred quarter for the establishment. Lots of really pretty corners, somewhat boring though.

Jessica, thanks a lot. The more paintings i do the more obvious it becomes to me. Nobody is cracy enough to do just block studies. Probably one should. Of course color gets better by doing more paintings, but it will always stay kind of arbitrary with complex subjects like this. I think i should go back into a phase of mainly blockstudies.

Really a fun painting, beautiful clean colour - I think all your block painting has paid off!

Thanks Olivia! I am quite satified with it at this stage. Wonder whether that is the right way to move forward though. Maybe it would be better to do block studies of those colors and to build up a stronger fundament. Like this it is more fun.

Great painting Thomas. I love how youve managed the planes on that building.

Linda, Silvana, Betsy thanks a lot!
Yes, currently i only work outside.

I copied the text from my blog. Simply don't know the new school word for establishment. Well, if it is vintage it fits - guess i am about to become a hippie ;)

I like your colors and the dog walker!
Did you say, "The Establishment? " I haven't heard that term since the 1970's. WOW! I just took a trip down memory lane. (Did I mention that I was a hippie chick back in the day?) ;-)
