Original Oil Painting by Jeri McDonald, 11x14 oil primed panel. Roses in purple for my mother. She loves that color. Wow it was hard to do! She loves pansies as well. Not a big fan of florals but wanted do some for my mother who will be 80 in May. I will do a much larger version for her birthday as a surprise.

I used Gamblin's Payne's Gray as an experiment to get the dark background as well as the purples. Mixed with alizarin and cobalt blue makes a great purple.

I'm not wild about purple roses but my mom and lots of people do! Gotta paint what they like sometimes huh?
