16 x 20 oil on canvas
My first entry! Had fun doing this, but need to create my own composition next time. Need to do more with the foreground too, it's a bit mushy and drab. Critiques welcome!

Mary, for a first entry, this is very good. You have good eye on color. Beautiful color.Value contrast of the background and foreground are very good. I like your hut and tractor too. One suggestion, when you take the photo of your painting in the room, turn of the light  so it will not have reflection on the canvas. Do it during daytime, so you have enought light for the camera to get natural colour. I just figure out these days. If you go to the page of "workshops" and click workshop11 on that page, Richard provide us a website which teach us how to make a good quality photo. You did well and good luck for our next challenge.

Hi Mary Jo, great to see your painting and I think you did a great job. I like your chickens and barn, and your light is beautiful. Well done!!!

Next time it's going better and you won't be in a hurry ^_^ . In the meantime make little studies from grass, sand, and flowers etc. That's a nice way to practice foregrounds :)) Look at photo's and in books for simple and easy examples, make some fantasie foregrounds, or out of memory. Just try but first of all have fun ^_^.
