Marek, this is a lovely painting, I like the way you have painted the light on the water. I love to paint water but it is always a challenge. I enjoyed reading all the comments below!

Oh boy, Marek. What you said all but went right over my head (no understanding). I only have visited the ocean and am not your expert you need at the moment! Go look at Edith McClelland page. She has done 3 ocean waves paintings and I believe she has taught lessons. She was helpful to me when I ask for help on my egg painting. I bet she would be glad to help you on this one too. Send her a note. Ro

well, I guess this little waves in the foreground suggest we are standng quite close to a surface of a shallow water, so this wave which is coming is also quite small (40cm maybe?), I wouldn't say it is dramatic, crashing wave. the pattern of the waves in the background is irregular, there is no some constant wind that creates regular waves.
it looks to me more like ireglurar, smooth, post-storm waves. Looking at it now I would say sea looks too smooth in the far distance, it reflects too much from the sky so it would be more consistent to darken it and sugest some irregularities of te surface.
Could you agree with that? :)

Beautifully done, so much to like here, the sky the colours, lots in fact. I do agree with Ro`s assessments though, she has made some valid comments. We are all here to learn and improve.

Marek, just so you know I was raised in far west Texas. That is pretty far away from the ocean, and I have visited the coast on and off, and I am not by any means an expert. OH we did have our sail boat for 4 years on Galveston Bay near Houston, TX. It is my understanding that waves only start to break over in high wind or shallow water, and usually the fetch of the waves are 8-15 feet apart (wild guess). You only have 1 wave showing. I would think there might be more waves breaking. Now that I am looking at this painting more I notice all the horizontal lines. Wonder if the wave would be better if it trailed off at least on one end just so it would not be another perfect horizontal line in the picture? Without doing all that thinking.......LOL.......I still love this painting. I like the colors, and you did well on letting the light show through the wave, the horizon distance is good, and the sky is outstanding. (BTW I looked up your town because I did not know where that was on the earth. We must be on opposite sides of the planet.) LOL Ro

We used to own a sail boat, and one time I found floating in the marina a "little yellow duck" that was actually something you put swimming pool chemicals in and as it floated in the pool it let them out. We attatched a line to it and drug it behind the boat. It was a yellow duckie with sunglasses. We thought it was way too much fun! LOL Ro

Oh dear. Well this is just to beautiful a painting. I have been thinking and thinking. I know how hard it would be to repaint the area with another coat to make the paint thicker. All but impossible. The only other thing I can think of is to put a child going out to/through/past the wave pulling some water toy/object and the line in the painting is the rope/line pulling the object. //// Put a boat and the line is the anchor rhode under water. Being creative is not my strong point as you can see. I did give it my all though. he he Ro
