14 x 20, oil on linen

Well I finished the piece. Again this is a commission for a friend. I would love to hear if it is an improvement or not from the previous version :)

Thank you Ann. I do prefer this version also, much more. The client likes it very much so I am happy. This painting was really challenge for me since it was not something I would have chosen to paint my self. There were to many things wrong with the scene so I had to come up with a lot of changes.

Michael. Thank you for the comment. Your suggestion with the winter scene is good and I think it would have worked. But since I did show the painting to my client and he was happy, then I am very glad to not have to fiddle with it any more :)

Thanks guys for your feedback.

Andri, I prefer this version.

The rendering throughout is more architectural, which suits the subject.

My only suggestion would be to strengthen the theme of 'man over nature'. You have taken licence with the foreground tree, changing it from an evergreen to a deciduous tree. Go all the way. Push 'man'  (building in a landscape) by toning down the vibrant, rampant green growing meadow (nature). Maybe change the foreground to a winter scene. Snow. Ice. No growth. Then add a touch of life through colour in one of the windows.

This one is the winner in my book. You have done a great job in creating plains of focus to bring the eye to the building but at the same time there are areas that hold the viewer to explore. The soft focus building on the left with the detail trees in front pushes the main building out it is interesting but does not steal the spot light. I like the soft but warm color scheme, the reds and greens add vibrancy to a subject that could be boring. The contrast between the soft focused  loosely painted foreground is a nice contrast to the sharp lines of the building. How does your client like it ?

I liked it the way it was personally
