Well done with a difficult subject.  You have captured the light and the water.

Thanks Pauline, Jessica and Susan.
I never modify a painting after I considered it finished. The reason is simple. I do not want thoughts running through my head like: i may fix that later on... It's killer no.1 IMO to give my best out there.
However, i appreciate your thoughts Susan and see you point. I will be better prepared next time i look into the dark :-)

Dark water is usually in shadow, shadows are transparent and the more you look into shadows, the more you see. Since the darker water is in the background, you wouldn't want to add too much detail; perhaps subtle color changes, still dark but just enough to show a whisper of something or it could even be the merest suggestion of a post or a dock or the movement of the water. Don't overdo! (I'm relating what I've read, not what I've learned to do well myself yet)!

This is beautifully painted!  Loose but accurate & wonderful light on the boat!

This is a great painting Thomas with a brilliant spotlight, love the little figure on deck!

Thanks Susan! What do you mean by "the very dark water more transparent"?
Comment by Susan Burke on July 10, 2015 at 3:10

Thomas, I don't think you overdid the dark water, I would make the very dark water, more transparent-just a hint of detail; but, whatever you do, don't touch the boat, it's perfect!
