On a wine tasting trip to the Sonoma Wine Region, we stopped by a nursery to "smell some roses"! The intense colors in this poppy caught-my-eye, so I had to take a photograph.
This painting was done using artist quality acrylic paints on 300 lb Arches watercolor paper. The paint was applied watercolor style, using multiple layers of very dilute paint for the flower. The background was done more traditionally, using fluid acrylic paint with very little dilution.

Hi Michel! I saw your painting and like it very much, specially your flowers. Gorgeous!  I like poppies as a flowers but this simple flower looks just gorgeous on dark background you paint!
