Caroline, Thanks. When I paint those rocks I tried my best not to work on them too long time, glace on them too much. First get the value correct, then put on the colours, then paint some detail shapes. Stop. Because if I change the colour or shape again and again, it  would not look vivid and fresh.

Nancy, Thank you for your nice comment though I thought I was flattered. You are right, me am too always wondering how Richard create so beautiful paintings, as his demo showed, in such peaceful, no rush, no hush, easy way. At the same time, as he told us that he started painting at 9 years old, that means that he has painted for more than 20 years. Therefore, in terms of painting, he is an experienced old hand with excellency. Back to my case, I just watch his demo, copy his concept of design, colour, brush stroke... in one word, standing on his shoulder and enjoy what he did for us. That is one of the  benefits to be a student. And nobody will blame me. Even though, this painting took me about 10 hours to finish and was not easy at all. You can tell, I learned a lot from it. Thank you again, Nancy, for your attention and kindness.

Love your rocks...so chunky and real, yet abstract quality to them. Nice!

This is gorgeous, Ningning!  I liked the addition of the gulls flying around over the rock, out of danger!  Your wave looks very powerful!

Another beautifully done painting. I keep wondering how Richard keeps, seemingly so effortlessly, producing hiss gorgeous paintings, and then I see your's with the same qualities. Well done!
