Well, struggled on - most unfortunately before I read Michael's more detailed explanation of his crit of V1. Experimenting like that would be better as a prep stage!

Thanks, Kevin - I'm not precious about modifying 'em - just too lazy to be bothered (grin) - in this case it was interesting to see how it would change (seeing as the mods were a bit radical). What I do notice is that to get very light values, you need to let it dry a bit before you do them eg the right wall on the tower - I could get it lighter ow - no prob

Hello Jon, really nice job on this revised effort.  It is not always fun or easy to take a step back and have another go but it worked out nice in this effort.  I am really liking the interplay of warm/ cool variations of the colors in each main value shape.

If only we could remember to do all the things we've learned about!  I've begun working on the boat painting - at the drawing stage.... it's going to be a while still!

Thanks, Jessica - I must remember to do that systematically. Are you working on your boat painting? Cheers Jon

Really like the changes you made Jon,  incorporating the atmosphere colours into the buildings & roofs.

Yep, come on spring!

You soon have Spring and then you will have a lot of inspiration again.  I also cannot paint if something does not inspired me.

Thanks a lot, Aurelia. I feel like painting now - but I'm not finding any subjects that motivate me - I don't like to paint unless the image has a personal meaning for me - this scene is from one of my many hikes round the south-west French countryside!

Lovely painting Jon.  I did have a look at the other one and I like that one too, but this one has much more atmospheric perspective, harmony and I like the softer edges as well.  Your focal point is also much clearer.  Good job and don't put away that brushes!
