Thanks Linda. You are right, I added the lavender sky just to create a more interesting amosphere. Maybe the photo is not well showing the lavader sky reflection into the sea water but in the original it does. This spot uploaded by RR gave me the hint to search for more similar ones and I found a lot and very interesting so I decided to bring something new in my painting. Hope this will be for good.
This is a cheerful painting with lots of color. The lavender in the sky is a great addition.
Thanks a lot Silvana and Catherine.
Greens family is a difficult colour, especially in landscape painting where we find also the blues family interacting with it. And the overuse of bright greens looks like an amateur painting. At a first look to a photo such as the photo 1 of the Roberton Island by RR, it seem to be easy to reproduce the nature in all its splendour but when it comes to harmoniously transfer it on canvas the colour mix becomes muddy and hence inexpressive. What did I do? Trying something unusual such as mixing black with yellow to get dark greens, burnet umber with cadmium yellow light for soft tones and eventually phthalo blue with cadmium yellow light to get vibrant tones………
George, im jealous ... this is really nice. Your mountain looks so good, so much variation in colour , and your water looks so seamless. Nice job.
It is beautiful George!!!
