Lanny, by the way, in this picture I had the hardest time getting the water the way I wanted. I guess because I had already put down the structure, I had to work around that and couldn't get the flow right. Maybe I should have done the water first...but it's a trial and error for me as I go down the path of learning how to paint! ha!
Deodanda, thank you for your thoughts. It is challenging every time I do a piece. As I've noted in other posts, it was almost like writing with my left hand when I started painting. I had no idea what to do with the brush; then I just kept trying to put down what I could see from the photo [no plein air for me!] and I would paint over paint over paint...sorry RR I haven't reached your level yet! But I guess that's what it's all about..pouring yourself into the canvas. As for Lanny's comments, thanks also. I have taken photos from our son and daughter's travels for most of my paintings. They've given me some really nice subjects! This piece was from our daughter's honeymoon to the British Virgin Isles. Thank you again for your encouragement!
Nice clouds, great stones! I don't have the patience for that yet!! I love your ocean, too. Have you spent a lot of time in the BVI?
Thank you very much Deodanda. It means a lot coming from a fine artist as yourself...I checked your collection out..very impressive. I find your pomegranate still life absolutely beautiful!
Thank you Ann! I was really intrigued by all of the shapes. I'm glad you like it.
Amazing rock work.
