I would like to ask you to be on my friend's list, but don't seem to be able to find how to do it. Could you please ask me? Ro

Edith, I think for me it was not to get swept up in someone's excitment of what they were doing. The Rt Brain book was like that, although that was a good side tract. Talking to myself now, "If you want to be a landscape artist, dont paint flowers, people, etc......paint landscapes!" LOL Concerning the book - Rt Brain, Do each of the exercises, especially the upside down ones. Those are amazing! If you would like, you can show me the exercises and I will show you mine so you can see how similar they are. I went through the book with 4-5 ladies and our drawings were very similar. // I am so new to this site, that I have spent the day rumminging around Richard R's stuff. OMGoodness....he is so good! I am in the middle of another course I paid for - must finish that - but then I want to get some of Richard's. Have you bought any of his course materials? I am very interested in NOTAN. I find it is harder to put into practice than it looks like it should be. sigh Ro

Believe it or not Roena, I have picked this book up several times but always put it back on the shelf..... perhaps now I will actually get a copy and read it! Yes, it is very easy to become sidetracked - the key is, as I'm sure you already know all too well, keep painting [practice, practice, practice]! Happy painting! Edith.

Thanks Edith, I went through the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain with a group of friends. The tricks I learned gave me the courage to even try to do something difficult. I was convenced that I could not draw, and had no confidence at all. Have you seen the book? I went 1/2 way though it til I got to the people part. I am not interested in drawing/painting people - I am trying to FOCUS and become a great colorist, landscape artist. It is so easy to get side tracked. You did quite a drawing to get that boat and all the people correct! Ro

Thank you for your kind comments Roena! Looking at your work, I can tell you are also fascinated by light and, for a "second serious drawing", your Elk is pretty darn good!
Warmest regards, Edith.
