I am studying color right now, and your flesh tones are facsinating.  The colors match the background so nicely.  (I suppose my admiration comes from my personal struggles with accomplishing this...)  This is a really beautiful composition!

WOW!! Susan this is AWESOME!!! I really like the idea of using beautiful fabric, and your painting is just gorgeous. Beautiful skincolours, and very nice pose. The light and shading are just great!!! Your skills in figurepainting are just fantastic, i absolute like this, great work, Susan, well done!!

This was my attempt at using fabric as part of the painting surface.  I found part of an old sari length with elaborate gold embroidery in my sewing cupboard and glued it to the board using PVA glue.  I painted the whole board with PVA over the top of the fabric so I could clean off any unintended paint.  Then I painted over everything except the fabric border.  It will be interesting to see how this holds up.  Presumably the PVA, being acrylic, should be OK as a base for oils.  It was very shiny and it took ages for the first coat of oil to dry, but the surface looks fine now.
