The Ult blue united all the color patches which make the painting highly harmonized. Very comfortable to look at it. You design of bright foreground contrast darker background make the focus points stand out beautifully.Great job, Jon.

Interesting, Ann - I don't know at all - the subject attracted me and my gut feeling was that the compo would work/was interesting - but analysis says no clear focal point (maybe the center 'spotlight' area of the 2 main boats? and very busy (but that gives the eye work to do).

It's sunset (in fact!)which means a lot of dark with bright flashes - but as I started to go for this orange harmony it looked horrible - so I took all the orange light out!!! - my main worry is that now there's no clear sense of light/time of day! My daughter says I should suggest a lot more detail on the boats....

Jon I was just interested in your thought process ie composition. The perspective you use is great on the boats. The color bright and clear. Maybe the green boat in the center for focal with red for lead in ?

Jeri - yes, the compo is, interesting - a cross, in fact?

Ann - yeah, no clear focal point and too busy?! I'd like to hear Micheal on it - but it was too ambitious - don't think I could be bothered to do a second version of it!

Boats are fun to do. These are very colorful and nicely rendered. Interesting composition.
