Terry, I thought it was something else that sent one blind ...oops, you said colour blind, sorry my subconsious mind was overtaking me there for a minute. lol

Seriously, yesterday I started a painting which I will finish tomorrow and put it up for the world to see (would have finished to day but had to go out) I was surprised at how much I got done using a 2" brush for the most part ....I'm not done to 2 hours but heading in the right direction ... it was 35 C while I was painting which was quite a challenge with acrylics but I boxed on anyhow. Till tomorrow... Cheers

Yep it's an everyone problem Lyndon. Looking at something for too long can send you color blind. No..no..not that..well, that too maybe. Look at red for too long and it goes a bit green. Also your subconsious works out problems for you behind the scenes, given enough time. Look at your paintng in a mirror or turn it upside down is a help also, Terry

Terry, this is something I have yet  to learn, currently I get to a certain point and stop and put the picture somewhere I can see while watching TV or reading so I can see where it can be improved. This might be for a period of days or even weeks but it usually works out in the end.

I guess I'm hard to satisfy, do other people have this problem?

Hi Lyndon, Know when to stop. Have you got someone to tap you on the shoulder. If not remember when you get to the finishing stage,,,,,, to slow right down, and consider, each stoke, seriously, Terry

Actually, I have hit the horse a little more and I'm  not quite finish beating it to death!

Yeah Terry, the wave is one of the things I'm changing and I think I've improve the clouds.

I'm using acrylics and so far I have not attempted to use impasto but maybe in the next one.

Nice work Lyndon, I thought you said you were a beginner. If that's a flogged horse you were beating it nicely. The only thing I think I would like to see more texture. The customer likes to see 1/4 inch of paint for their money. By the way, if a few surfers contact you, they will be trying to find out where that wave is. Better put a couple of gaps in it mate before the beach police catch up with you (and the composition police). Clouds look great,  Terry
