I have just caught up with this brilliant painting after the competition ended.

How did you go?

If you didn't win there's something wrong with the judges!

My brother out in California just emailed me and said that most people don't know good art so If I win or sell then it must be second rate.  LOL

This is a great painting. It looks like you must have had a great time creating it.

Thank you Roana.  I went to this competition last year.  It is the best of the best.  I will be very surprised to be winner or seller.   But I'm definately going to have a grand time at the opening.

Peni, I finally got it figured out.  I looked at the photo and the painting.  Someone is trying to take a photo to match your perfect, exceptional detailed, painting of water splashing, water swooshing around rocks, and shadows cast my morning sun.  5***** on this one.  I vote too........it is a winner!  Very, very lovely.  You better e-mail me when you win and sell it!  he he  Ro

Of course, now I see there is splashing water behind.  Ai, not only inexperienced, bad eyesight on top of it!

I am sure that we will all be thinking of you on the 14th,  "seeing"  that blue ribbon stuck onto the painting.

There is a 93 yr old artist at my art club who told me that the photo is
not always right.  I know he is right but I continue to strive for that
alikeness.  What you are looking at is a 10:00am January sun forcing
its way thru the virtical bars of the pier and reflecting onto the
splashing water.  I thought it was such an outstanding affect but it was very difficult to transpose  onto the canvas.  I wish you had been there 4 months ago when I was thrashing in my head how to accomplish this affect perfectly.  I have added the photo.  Unfortunately I can't put the photo in the contest with the painting.  I will jump for joy if I win this one.  Will keep you posted.
