Stephanie, I like strong contrast of light and dark too. When I  darked and made those individual leaves dispeared in the background, I was so happy to see those fruits start to shine, like a miracle. An art teacher mentioned that when we are not afraid to try then we can grow. I agree with it. Thank you for your complement about my set up. Waiting to see your new beautiful works. Li

Thank you.  After watching the video on how to set up a still life, I really worked on making the subject fall into the shadows.  It is a dark picture, but it really was dark when I painted it.  I really like the contrast.  I notice yours also has a very nice lighting effect.
