Watercolour with Fair Head in the background - we regularly sail out into Ballycastle Bay where I get great reference pics. Earlier this evening we were on our way back from Rathlin Island when we spotted a basking shark!

Hi John, unfortunately this is really not the best photograph of the painting - it appears quite 'washed out', but this is the only image I have. The actual painting is very much stronger in depth and tonal value. Perhaps that's what seems to be bothering you about this one?

In answer to your question, yes, I have painted huge breaking waves [we get some fantastic storms along the North Coast]. They would be my favourite subject - again, unfortunately I don't have any images! Next one I do I'll be sure to post it here!

My sailing was bay or lake.  This does look like it would make your heart beat a little!  LOL  Excellent painting.  I really do like it!  Ro

Again, thanks for all the comments.  John, keep in mind that the tide is running away from the viewer.. big swells out in deep ocean look just like this... it's unusual to get actual breaking waves [unless you are unlucky enough to get clobbered by one!].  The day we were out when I took this photo, I really would not have liked any more movement - it was pretty hairy as it was! Cheers.... all comments always welcome!

Love the picture. I can feel the movement but still could do with some stronger movement on the front wave.
